Teacher: Johnny King
Domino’s Art Studio, Room 411
Period 7 Intro to Class:
Welcome to Graphic Design and Digital Arts.  In this course we will learn how to use graphic design programs like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, two of the leading programs in the Graphic Design industry.  We will learn how to use graphics/drawing tablets on the computer, while we explore topics like Design Elements, Typography, Illustration (character, comic, poster, etc.), Website Creation, T-Shirt design, Page Layout (magazine, book cover, music albums, etc.), Logos, Business and Marketing, Digital Imaging/Photography, 3D Graphics, Social Media, and Color Theory, to name just a few!!

We will learn what it takes to succeed in the Graphic Design field, and what separates a good designer from an average designer.  We will also learn about all possible art related jobs, and towards the end of the class you will hopefully have a better idea of a certain direction you would want to focus your attention on.

This class is student interest driven, and project based.  We will practice using the “creative process” which involves research, planning, collaborating, conceptualizing, sketching, creating, exporting, critiquing, and re-working.  In order to succeed in this class one needs to be humble and ready to learn, intellectually curious, resourceful, accountable, compassionate, and be able to self advocate and persevere.  Although there will be a lot of overall class projects, I am looking for and love seeing students who are intellectually curious that come to class with fun ideas for projects they want to work on.  There are so many fun projects that there is no way we can cover all of them in a year, but we will do our best!

Some of the projects and assignments we will be working on this year may include:

Those students who are seniors might find this class especially useful as you will be able to use class time to help work on your senior businesses, and whatever may come along with that!
