Grauer Yearbook Cover Contest 2016-2017

Grauer Yearbook Cover Contest 2016-2017

We are in search of an amazing cover for this year’s (2016-2017) yearbook.  Last year was the school’s 25th anniversary, so our theme was “25.”  This year the Graphic Design class came up with a long list of options for the theme. After our final vote on Monday, this year’s theme is “A Walk on the Wild Side.”  We want you to share your creativity with us. Create and submit your best yearbook cover design by Friday September 30th.

You will be designing a yearbook cover that includes the front, back, and spine. Mediums can include digital or non-digital artwork. However, the final product will be converted to digital artwork by the Graphic Design class. There is no limit to the amount of drawings that you can submit. The winner will work with the Graphic Design class in some capacity to create the final cover.

Theme:  A Walk on the Wild Side

Judging: The Graphic Design class will determine the winning submission.

To Submit: Email a high resolution image of the front, back cover, and spine to johnnyking@grauerschool.com.  Or turn in a hand drawn/painted design to Johnny in the art room (Domino’s Art Studio).  Make sure your name is written clearly on the front or back of the design.

Due: September 30th (Friday)

Important Information: Include the theme somewhere on the cover.  You don’t have to submit a full scale version of your design (the design can be submitted on two 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper for example - front and back).

Considerations: Try incorporating design elements in your cover.  Use color, balance, composition, font types, etc., that will help to unify the cover, the school, and this year’s theme in one.  Stop by the art room if you have any questions, or if you would like to see other yearbook cover samples.

You can submit a fully completed and colored design, or a pencil sketch.  We aren’t necessarily looking for the most finished/colorful design.  We also appreciate creative ideas, and concepts that we think have the potential to turn into a beautiful cover with help from the Graphic Design class.

Dimensions: See the back for the actual dimensions of the book.
